The Next Best Thing to Being There

Tonight's the Night!

Join me and 42nd Ward Democratic Committeeman John Corrigan, both freshly home from Denver, in order to join friends, supporters and enthusiastic Democrats in a great downtown location to watch this once-in-a lifetime event.

Can we watch history being made and have a good time doing it?
Yes we can.

Can we manage to do anything subsantive to address the war zone in our inner cities, put a capital spending bill above Mike Madigan's political ambitions, or even revise our Darfur sanctions legislation over a year after a federal judge told us how it had to be done (especially those legislators so moved by the memory of Hitler and it's political uses in 2008?)? No, we can't. Enjoy the party.

Ok, that *was* a bit testy -- I suppose a political party is allowed to throw a fundraising party every now and then...

I don't think that once every four years is too much to ask for :)

And btw, I'm the one the sponsored the law requiring Illinois students to learn about genocides across the world, not just the Holocaust.

What is going on in Darfur is a tragedy and reflects almost as poorly on the rest of the passive world as it does on those carrying out the atrocities.
