Paris Strikes Back
We have some heady stuff coming up over the next week, so let's grab a little levity while we can. At the risk of posting yet another video on the blog, here we go:
By now, most of you have seen and heard about the McCain attack ad that uses images of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears (and subtle references to Hitler) in an effort to take a jab at the celebrity status of Barack. You can read my previous comments about the petty ad here.
Well, suffice it to say Ms. Hilton is having none of it. Not only does she let McCain have it between the eyes, she puts both candidates on notice that she is a force to be reckoned with.

But John, does any thinking person disagree that she has a better energy plan than Senator Obama? Remember that Obama has only recently said he'd allow some off-shore drilling and then ONLY as a political trade, not because he thinks it would have a psychological impact on oil prospectors or be good for the nation in the long-term. Much worse, he's done a Hillary/McCain: he endorsed raiding the strategic oil reserves to lower prices in the short term -- nothing different about that versus a temporary gas tax suspension.
Speaking of what would clearly be good for the nation but what politicians have no guts for: the Guv's suggestion to put up speeding cameras on the highways (oh my god, he wants to actually enforce the law, laws that conserve oil and save lives and that current state police can't put a dent in enforcing!) and spend them on those poor black people so their kids won't get shot!
The Cubs will win 10 world series in a row before anything like that gets passed.
I'm a thinking person and I agree with Senator Obama's energy plan. There's no point (other than psychological) in giving the oil companies leases for off shore drilling when they aren't using well over half the leases they currently have. If you guys who own cars would maintain them (which includes keeping your tires inflated correctly) you wouldn't use as much gas.
I like the Governor's ideas about cameras on the highways as well.
And I'd be able to take Ms Hilton more seriously if I thought she actually wrote the script or believed anything she said. Oh, and if she'd put on some clothes.
