Impeached
What a day. For now, I'll just put up a portion of my comments from today's floor debate.
The rest of the final quote was as follows: "My Illinois is not the Illinois of George Ryan and Rod Blagojevich. Our Illinois is the Illinois of Abraham Lincoln and Paul Simon and Barack Obama...but when it comes to restoring the people's faith, it's not a matter of 'Yes We Can', but 'Yes We Will'."
These are historic times indeed.

Unfortunately our Illinois is also the one of Mike Madigan, who shamelessly lied about passing a special election law for Obama's senate seat and having his daughter attempt to treat the state constitution like a nose of wax to bypass the impeachment process. (For anyone reading this who doesn't know, John has consistently supported the special election -- my rep, Karen May, would not). It's the state of Richard Daley, who despite legions of scandals has the audacity to seek repeal of the Shakman Decree (and worked to prevent Patrick Fitzgerald's appointment in the first place). It's the state that has made Blago-ism legal when it comes to the legal system, permitting lawyers to give money to the very judges who decide their cases without it being grounds for recusal. And worst of all, it's a state that does everything it can to deny its citizens the power of their vote through some of the most insidious gerrymandering to be found in the nation.
Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it.
Indeed! The end is near almost. :)
