Where's There's Smoke?
Given everything that's going on at just about every level of government these days, you have to wonder what's up with this. As reported in today's Daily Herald:Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Friday accepted the resignation of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
J.T. Somer, 57, said he resigned for personal reasons and declined to comment further. His resignation was effective Friday.
In March, Somer acknowledged his agency had turned over documents to the FBI and Illinois State Police related to a corruption investigation that predated his tenure. Somer said Friday his resignation was not tied to the investigation.
I don't think that I've ever met Mr. Somer, and I've heard he's a good guy. But these types of stories are starting to feel like Groundhog Day.

I smell somebody's goose cooking.
I've known JT Somer for 36 years and he is a caring, honest and hard working man. He has always strived to make his town and state a better place to live. He worked diligently to insure his fellow firemen are equipped and trained with the latest fire fighting technology and tools available on the market today. JT was a invaluable asset, now down the tubes. He has always had a "Type A" personality and the slug-os working for him are more than likely just feeding out of the "government trough"...I would've resigned too.
