Justice DeLay-ed but not Denied

The Chicago Tribune just reported that a Texas grand jury on Wednesday charged Rep. Tom DeLay and two political associates with conspiracy in a campaign finance scheme, an indictment that could force him to step down as House majority leader.

Everything else may be bigger in Texas, but (unfortunately) we still have them beat hands down in indicted elected officials.

And yet, we have fewer rules

It's about time. I wrote an ethics paper on this last November and predicted that their would be enough evidence to indict him. This was based on a media account of the wire transfers between accounts.

Rep. Fritchey, that's another preternaturally good headline.

Does anyone have a list of Illinois politicos that are under investigation, and the status of each investigation?

That would make a cool (albeit large) web site.

First, let me say that I'm not a Delay all. Albeit I'm a Texan, I'm proud that he doesn't represent my locale.
Not to cast any stones at this point, I will predict that he will unfortunately be exonerated of these charges. Ronnie Earle, the prosecuting DA makes Joe McCarthy look like a wimp and I don't think he has one iota of a case. With any luck at all, the results of this indictment will put Earle out of office and be replaced by somebody that will represent the people and not the party. I only wish he had more ammo to put Delay out of office. If Texas could rid themselves of Sheila Jackson Lee (D)and Tom Delay (R), we Texans would all be able to hold our heads up higher. I guess that kind of lets you know that I have no leanings to either party but I do endorse representative government. None of the aforementioned golddiggers provide that for their constituents.
