Veto Session Update

2:12p.m. - Relatively uneventful session today. Nobody, myself included, can really figure out what's going on with Rep. Bradley's gaming elimination bill. No other real surprises, but then again the day's not quite over yet. If anything else worthwhile pops up, I'll update it here later. Watching six hours of a World Series game has sapped my creativity for the day.

Would you care to comment on SB 700, which is coming down the pike?

I understand it makes the 7% property tax assessment cap permanent, and eliminates the "cap on the cap" (removing the $20,000 limit to the homestead exemption).

I am for it. We can't lose sight of the bigger picture though, which is that we have to fix how we assess property, and as importantly, how we fund our schools!
