Frankie Says 'No Mas'

Per the Illinois Leader, my former colleague Frank Aguilar has closed the door on seeking a return to office in the next cycle. Frank lost in an election that redefined the word fluke. Apparently, Michelle Chavez didn't get the memo that she was supposed to lose. But opting to stay closer to his home base of Cicero and his recently widowed mom, Frank said:
While I enjoyed my service in state government and was honored to represent the residents of Cicero in that capacity, today I am announcing that I will not be a candidate for state legislative office in the 2006 election cycle.
But that doesn't clear the path for the woman who vanquished Frank. Lisa Hernandez, from Pat Quinn's office, is waiting in the wings and will be a force to be reckoned with.

Lisa Hernandez is a Democrat. Her husband is the Cicero Democratic Committeeman. There might be more candidates in the Democratic primary.

There might be more candidates, but she will be the one to beat.

Was Chavez a stooge for the Cicero GOP, or is she a legit Dem who just got lucky and swept in with Obama?

Well, on election night, she was at Aguilar's 'victory' party when she found out that she won, so read into that what you will. Ah, Cicero.

a good question is who do you think would win between hernandez and chavez and then who would run in the general as a repub since frank says he is out?

Hernandez wins with only token opposition in the General. The deal is all but done.

Rep. Frank Aguilar was a quality representative. Sooner or later the Latinos that have been led to believe that there is place for them in the Republican Party will wake up.
